The Urban League of NWI Young Professionals is offering people a crash course in how to sell an idea, a business or themselves in 30 seconds.

The group will offer a seminar on how to make an elevator pitch. The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Jelly Pancake House, 399 E. 81st Ave., Merrillville. Networking and light refreshments will be available between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

Chris Smith, the vice president of human resources for NiSource, will facilitate the event, which aims to teach people what to say if they were to share a brief elevator ride with the president and CEO of their company, or someone else of importance.
