NIPSCO CEO Jim Stanley has been named Indiana chairman of a three-state alliance that will lead a first-of-its-kind economic development initiative in the United States, according to the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce.
Stanley's appointment as Indiana chairman of the Tri-State Alliance for Regional Development follows the recent appointment of former Centerpoint Properties CEO Michael Mullen as Illinois chairman. The announcement of a Wisconsin chairman is pending.
The Tri-State Alliance for Regional Development will work to implement the recommendations of the first territorial review study ever done in the United States by The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, according to the chamber. That study found that Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin could enhance output and employment by cooperating on economic development projects.
“Indiana’s participation in this promising initiative has the potential for long-term economic benefits for Northwest Indiana, the state of Indiana, and the tri-state region as a whole,” Stanley said.
Stanley was hired as NIPSCO CEO last month and is a member of the executive management council at parent company NiSource Inc., a Fortune 500 energy company headquarted in Merrillville. He is a 35-year energy industry veteran, previously serving in various roles for PSI Energy, Cinergy and Duke Energy.
