MUNSTER — Longtime Region office supply company McShane’s Business Products and Solutions has merged with Des Plaines Office Equipment of Elk Grove, Illinois.

McShane’s has been owned and operated in Indiana since 1921. President and CEO Brian McShane said Des Plaines Office Equipment’s investment in McShane’s will help it expand its product offerings and deepen its information technology expertise.

“As our firm continues to grow and as our industry changes, we sought ways to be sure that we remain on the cutting edge in the marketplace, having the very best products and the technology to support them,” McShane said.

There will be no “immediate or apparent changes” to the operations of McShane’s, he said. The name and location, 1844 45th St., in Munster, will be the same, and McShane will continue to serve as president and CEO.

“Our merging with Des Plaines Office Equipment brings considerable additional resources to the table, both in the areas of information technology, or managed services, plus some additional product lines of equipment that will give our clients even more choices for the best ways to handle their document management needs,” he said.

McShane’s is a 43-person firm which opened its doors four generations ago in 1921 as a printing and stationery company in Hammond. From the 1970s through the 1990s, McShane’s grew its business by becoming one of northern Indiana’s leading suppliers of copier equipment such as Canon (1978), Konica Minolta (1984), and color copiers in 1993.

“We look forward to the synergy that this joining of forces will bring,” McShane said.

Des Plaines Office Equipment has locations in Elk Grove Village, downtown Chicago and Rockford. The company was founded in 1955. It provides print management and document generation services and is a leading provider of Sharp brand office equipment.
