Nissan turns the holiday spotlight on the newest model to join the automaker’s popular compact SUV line with the 2010 Nissan Rogue Krom.
On sale now, Rogue Krom (pronounced “Chrome”) compliments the 2010 Rogue S and SL lineup with the added bling of bright-finished 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and unique grille anchored by a sculpted lower valance with integrated fog lamps.
Out back, Rogue Krom highlights a bold rear fascia with integrated center–exit exhaust, body-colored rear spoiler and rear privacy glass. Body-colored power outside mirrors, Krom emblem and steering wheel-mounted audio controls complete Krom’s look.
“Rogue Krom represents self-expression with an attitude”, says Nissan North America Specialty Vehicles Group Director Patrick Steiner at a recent gathering of the Midwest Automotive Media Association. “Krom’s provocative design is bold and aggressive, delivering strong appeal to buyers seeking to stand out from the crowd of ordinary compact SUVs.”
Though distinct on the outside, the limited edition Rogue Krom shares a 170 horsepower 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission with its stable mates.
Four-wheel anti-lock brakes and vehicle dynamic (stability) control and front-wheel drive (FWD) are standard. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available across the board.
Fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon around town and up to 27 mpg on the highway can be expected with Rogue FWD models. Mileage yields of 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway is garnered on AWD versions.
For 2010, Rogue S is available with a new 360-degree Value Package ($1,040) that includes 16-inch alloy wheels, privacy glass, auto-dimming rearview mirror with integrated rearview monitor, rear spoiler and chrome grille.
Heated front seats and mirrors, power six-way driver’s seat, premium audio system, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, leather upholstery and power sunroof are other popular options.
Nissan Rogue accommodates five occupants with a cockpit-like driver’s space. The driver’s seat position adjusts a full two inches up or down for a custom fit.
Utility is exceptional with a fold-down front passenger seat (standard on SL) that allows more than 8.5 feet of front-to-rear cargo space for carrying oversize items. A recessed space in the cargo bay helps contain smaller items like grocery bags and sport equipment from becoming unruly.
Rouge’s 58 cubic feet of carrying capacity makes hauling Christmas cargo or winter recreation gear easy. A 60/40 split-fold rear bench seat, oversize glove compartment and versatile center console aids the utility.
The 2010 Nissan Rogue S enters the compact SUV arena at $20,340 followed by SL at $21,930. Rogue Krom shines the bottom-line with $23,940. Add $800 freight and $1200 for optional AWD.
