The Northwest Indiana Auto Trade Association will be hosting its annual Spring Fundraising Sales Event Friday, May 24, Saturday, May 25 and Tuesday, May 28 to benefit Meals on Wheels.
Dealers participating in the event will be donating $25 of each car sold to Meals on Wheels in Merrillville, Ind.
Northwest Indiana residents can be a part of giving someone a meal by purchasing a new or used vehicle from any of the participating dealers.
Meals on Wheels began delivering meals in 1977. Its mission is to provide nutritious home-delivered meals to those who cannot grocery shop or prepare meals for themselves. No one is denied a meal from Meals on Wheels for financial reasons.
The meals are planned by a registered dietitian and are prepared fresh every day.
More than 846 individuals volunteer as drivers for Meals on Wheels in Northwest Indiana, and 1,700 meals are delivered daily.
Last spring, the Trade Association’s event benefitted Opportunity Enterprises, an organization in Valparaiso, which works to enhance the self-sufficiency and quality of life for those with disabilities.
The 2012 fall sales event benefitted the Food Banks of Northwest Indiana.
The association and its members support the Northwest Indiana community in other ways including supporting youth sports teams, award scholarships and contributing to local schools and churches.
The association is a group of local auto dealers, which offers fair prices, and “are dealers of the highest ethical make up and voluntarily accept the responsibilities of supporting the great Northwest Indiana community through business,” according to its website.
After the sales event this week, upcoming events for the association include the 2013 Annual Golf Outing on June 26 at White Hawk Country Club. More information about this event and the NIATA can be found at niatanow.com.
