NIATA scholarship

Many of the area’s vehicle dealerships are members of the Northwest Indiana Auto Trade Association, an organization of approximately 25 dealer members and 20 associate members, committed to charity throughout our region.

They will continue this tradition of giving when the Northwest Indiana Auto Trade Association will award six $2,000 scholarships to qualifying high school seniors in any school in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties who will be continuing their formal education. The scholarships will be distributed at $500 each semester for four consecutive semesters. Students that receive this scholarship must attend school three months after graduating to qualify.

Students can continues to apply for the NIATA scholarship up until April 20. To apply, students must include the completed application forrn, three recommendation letters and a sealed school transcript. The three recommendation letters should come from a school teacher, a school guidance counselor and an instructor or an auto dealer or member affiliated with NIATA. The NIATA Scholarship Committee may interview applicant and will make final decision of scholarship recipients.

NIATA is a group of local auto dealers, which offers fair prices, and “are dealers of the highest ethical make up and voluntarily accept the responsibilities of supporting the great Northwest Indiana community through business,” according to its website.

Throughout the year NIATA is constantly giving back to our community. Last year, NIATA also raised money for organizations such as Campagna Academy, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lake, Porter and LaPorte Counties, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, CAMP, Food Bank of NWI, and Opportunity Enterprises. They are constantly looking for ways to give back, near the end of last year NIATA held their first annual St. Jude House Poker Run to raise money for local St. Jude Houses. That is just one of many examples of how the come up with new ideas to raise money for this community.

Applicant must be furthering their career in a related field of study.
