MERRILLVILLE | General Motors awards Schepel Buick GMC 2012 Dealer of the Year.

This marked the third year in a row that Buick GMC has received this award. That in its own is remarkable because only the top one percent of all dealers nation wide receives this award. The award is designed for top dealers who take care of sales, service, training, customer satisfaction and its facility.

Schepel continues to increase its market for Buick and remains one of the top Buick dealers in the Chicagoland area. They also did the same with GMC business and remain one of the top dealers in Chicagoland.

Last year, Tom Van Prooyen, new sales dealer principal, said “It’s how we answer the phones. It’s how we say hello to our customers and make them feel welcome. We’re hoping we can do it again next year. We’re humbled by it.” Tom’s hopes last year and his employees hard work has paid off again this year.

Van Prooyen flew out to Detroit in late May to be honored for this award. Daniel F. Akerson, who has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors since 2010, honored Tom and spoke of this magnificent award.

After he was given the award, it was then shipped to Chicago where the Buick-GMC North Central Region Director Marc Hernandez brought it to the Schepel dealership. He presented to the whole staff during an event on June 20. Buick-GMC catered the whole event with pizza and an assortment of different sides. Hernandez, Van Prooyen and others gave speeches thanking the employees for their hard work and encouraging them to keep it up.

It was an exciting day for all the employees to relax and have fun. All employees took their time to come in, even if it was their day off, to get some food and listen to the speeches and recognitions of their dealership.

“This third year was a huge one. It is all do to the special people that work at Schepel Buick-GMC. The award goes out to every single one of them, and to our customers as well. We wouldn’t be where we are without all of you,” said Van Prooyen.
