If you woke up Christmas morning and went outside and all that was there was our lovely paper, I am sorry. You didn’t get the new car with the big red bow that you have been talking about for months. You wanted the one that you had read about from your favorite columnist. Well there is still hope, you will just have to go solo and go out and get it yourself, but luckily you have me as back up.

The Chevy Equinox has been on the market for a couple of years now, and has been improving a lot of different aspect over those years. “Equinox designers and engineers set out to create an uncompromising design that not only turns heads, but also helps to reduce wind drag and boost efficiency. The flowing lines and sculpted contours not only please the eye, but also help to offer an impressive EPA-estimated 22 MPG city/32 highway,” according to Chevy’s website. What really caught my eye was all of the chrome that surrounds the Equinox. There was chrome from the door handles, to the roof rack.

The chrome continues on the inside of the car with accents on the steering wheel, door handles, and more. This Equinox can seat up to five passengers comfortably, which comes in handy for those long road trips. The kids, or adults that are stuck sitting in the backseat won’t be as cranky with the 39.9 inches of legroom back there. To add to that comfort is available leather-appointed seating with two-tone panels and contrast color stitching.

Also, your mind is always at ease with the Equinox because of all the technology built into it. It starts with your fingertips on the 7-inch color touch-screen, the largest color touch-screen yet. As you use your touch-screen, it becomes accustomed to your likes and will display those first for you. With all that comes the new available Chevrolet MyLink works with your compatible smartphone and Bluetooth wireless technology to stream music and entertainment through the Pandora Internet Radio mobile app. Or you can listen to commercial-free programs through the 3-month trial of SiriusXM Satellite Radio. The latest Chevrolet MyLink even allows you to store up to 60 favorites, including radio stations, contacts, destinations, music and other media. It will also recognize your voice for hands free use, using the all-new Siri Eyes Free. With this feature, you can ask Siri to read text messages and notifications aloud, compose text messages, and even use maps to get directions.

Good thing your family didn’t get you that new car because now you get to choose exactly what you want, and with two engine choices that is a very good thing. Standard is the 2.4L DOHC 4- cylinder engine that offers an impressive EPA-estimated 22 city/32 highway MPG along with an Eco button you can press to maximize efficiency. The other choice is the available 3.6L V6 engine that delivers 301 horsepower and 272 lb. – ft of torque, it gives you the power to go 0 – 60 in 6.7 seconds or tow up to about two and half tons.

This is the part where you won’t mind gifting this car to yourself after the holiday spending, the standard model, the LS FWD starts out at about $25,000. The highest model, out of the eight different choices, starts out at about $34,000, which is the LTZ AWD.
