The Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority is preparing to interview candidates for its newly created position of grants coordinator.
The grants coordinator's duties will include reviewing all grant applications as well as administering them once they are made, according to the job posting for the position. The grants coordinator will also perform financial oversight and analysis.
The RDA in the past six years has granted $211 million to a broad range of projects, including shoreline parks, new rail cars for commuters and buses.
The RDA at its November meeting took action to promote finance and grants manager Sherri Ziller to the newly created position of chief operating officer and another staff position is being changed from part time to full time, CEO Bill Hanna told his board.
The RDA will have six full-time employees once the grants coordinator is hired. It has budgeted $588,938 for salaries and benefits in 2013, a 9.4 increase from this year.
