Buckley Fall Festival
The Buckley Homestead Fall Festival, “Lasting Traditions” offers family fun, food, entertainment and traditional arts and crafts. Reenactors portray military, civilians and artisans of various time periods. Wood crafters, china painter, spinners, quilters, weavers, and others will demonstrate their skills and sell their wares. Farmers are in the west pasture and Lake County Master Gardeners are in the garden and the root cellar. Entertainment for all is presented by the Dr. and Mrs. Quackenbush with their quick wit and slight-of- hand while Coles County Regulators Cowboys roam the countryside looking for bad guys, Susan and Gary Brown entertain with old-fashioned music and dancing, while Frank Wachter performs in the schoolhouse. Figure out who’s lying and who is telling the truth on the “Liars Bench.” Games and hands-on activities for the kids like rope-making, candle dipping, painting, dress up, and more at no cost. Sandwiches, baked potatoes with all the fixings, apple dumplings, kettle korn, pierogis, and more available for purchase. Take a hay ride shuttle around the historic areas of the park for $1.
