Historical society meeting

Event occured on Thu, Nov 17 2011, 7:30 pm CST

The Duneland Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the Library Service Center, 100W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton. Kris Krouse of the Shirley Heinze Land Trust will lead a program celebrating the 30th anniversary of the organization. The Land Trust was endowed as a charitable organization in 1981 through a gift by Mr. & Mrs. Robert L. Seidner. It was named to honor the memory of Dr. Shirley Heinze, an Ogden Dunes resident who was actively involved in the protection of the Indiana Dunes. Dr. Heinze, who died in 1978, was a psychologist and faculty member at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The public is invited and light refreshments will be provided. Non-members are invited to join the society and information on membership is available at all meetings. The next meeting will be in February 2012.
