After Christmas Event For Kids
The Lansing Historical Society invites children in grades 2 to 5 to an after Christmas in the Community Room, lower level of the Lansing Public Library. Mrs. Mary DiGrispino, teacher at School District 158 and Mrs. Barbara Dust, Curator of the Lansing Historical Museum will lead students through the event. Participants will be given a guided tour of Lansing Historical Society Christmas trees. They will listen to a presentation of the book, The Carpenter’s Gift by author David Rubel. This tale teaches the history of the first Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Center in New York City. They will also learn how each year these trees are used to build homes for needy families through Habitat for Humanity. We will then make a Christmas tree craft to donate to our local Habitat for Humanity volunteers. Students will take home a special keepsake to remember the story. There is no charge for the event.
