Civil Legal Help
An Indiana Legal Services Inc. attorney will provide free legal help to eligible families whose civil legal problems might cause them to uproot their children from school during the academic year. Talk privately to the attorney about housing issues, family law matters, public benefits, consumer law and guardianship issues. Priority will be given to the parents of Lake Station students, but area residents are also welcome. Use the “North Shore” entrance on the east side of the school. To be eligible for aid, a person must have a household income less than 125 percent of the federal poverty income level, meaning a $14,363 income for a one-person household or an income of $29,438 for a four-person household. Clients must be U.S. citizens or documented immigrants, except in certain limited circumstances.
