Fire Station Open House
In honor of Fire Prevention Week, the Griffith Fire Department will host its annual open house. Personnel will host multiple home fire safety displays and conduct firefighter skills demonstrations. Children can participate in the Junior Firefighter’s Challenge obstacle course, enter the annual coloring contest, enjoy a hot dog and more. Because an estimated 165,400 cooking fires occur annually in residences across the country, the open house will focus on how residents can protect themselves from cooking fires. Residents will also learn how to extinguish a small cooking fire. New this year, Griffith police and fire departments will instruct parents on proper child safety seat installations. The Griffith Fire Department Auxiliary will collect gently used books for local community senior services.
