Fourth of July Festival
Highland's 4th of July Festival begins July 3 with the popular Twilight Parade at 6:30 p.m. The parade begins at St. James the Less Church, continues north on Kennedy Avenue finishing up at Main Square Park. For parade information, call Erica Wolak at (219) 718-1610. The Kiddie Parade begins at 12:45 p.m. July 4 in the parking lot across from Traditions Restaurant. All participants will receive treats at the end of the parade. For kiddie parade information, call Liz Breslin at (219) 923-9351. Fireworks will be presented at 9 p.m. July 4 at Homestead Park. Festival hours are from 5 p.m. to midnight July 3; 1 p.m. to midnight July 4; Friday 5 p.m. to midnight July 5; 1 p.m. to midnight July 6; and 1 to 10 p.m. July 7. Ride bracelets are available from 1 to 5 p.m. July 4, 6 and 7 for $20, with a Last Blast from 6 to 10 p.m. July 7 for $15. Discount coupons for a $2 savings on wristband purchases (except Last Blast) are available throughout town. Wednesday is Retro Night featuring Dick Diamond and the Dusters; Thursday is Variety Night featuring Together; Friday is Country Night featuring Megan Owens; Saturday is Rock/R & B Night featuring Voices; Sunday is Family Night featuring Ralph's World at 3:30 p.m. and the Relics at 7:30 p.m. Food, crafts, carnival rides and fun.
