Learn to Golf Camp
Two separate sessions of Learn to Golf One-day Youth Adventure Camp will be offered by the Lake County Parks and Recreation Department for beginner golfers in fourth grade through high school. First date is June 20 (rain day June 21), with registration and payment deadline June 18 or until filled. Second session is July 11 (rain day July 12), with registration and payment due July 9 or until filled. Because the camp is sponsored by a donation in memory of Nell Bartholomew Dinsmore, the fee is just $10 for the all-day camp. Limited to 30 per session. Bring lunch or order hot dog, chips, and cola for $3 when registering. Youth golf clubs are available for camp, or bring a driver, a middle iron, and a putter. Campers will learn proper etiquette and rules for play on a golf course and then head to the driving range to learn how to hold and swing the club while hitting practice shots. The young beginners will learn how to determine what club to use and practice putting. After lunch, put morning lessons to work. This camp meets some of the requirements for the Boy Scouts Sports Golf Merit Badge; check requirements in Scout books.
