Responsible, Affordble Home Ownership
Habitat for Humanity Chicago South Suburbs offers a program with an opportunity for home ownership to hard working families who otherwise would live in sub-standard conditions. New Faith Baptist Church will host this informational session at 10 a.m. Aug. 17. Affiliate executive director David Tracy, says “Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with zero percent interest, affordable loans." Habitat for Humanity is not a giveaway program. In addition to monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their Habitat house and the homes of others. The affiliate will have 3 and 4-bedroom homes in Chicago Heights, Park Forest and Lansing which will be rehabbed to very high standards and come equipped with new appliances, high efficiency furnace and many other outstanding features. "Orientation sessions are being scheduled for anyone interested in participating in our program," Tracy added. The session will cover the application process, what it takes to qualify and the steps an applicant must take to become the owner of one of these eight homes.
