Sunday Nature Series Finale

The Sunday Nature Series will conclude at the Westchester Township History Museum   Aug.12. The museum is housed in the historic Brown Mansion in Chesterton.  Light refreshments will be served. Adults are invited to join Chuck Roth, owner of Chesterton Feed and Garden, when he presents information about water and rain gardens and the plants to use in them. Children age six and up are invited to join Museum Educator Susan Swarner to create decorations for their gardens and plant some rain garden flowers during the adult session with Roth. A rain garden is a planted depression or hole that allows rainwater runoff to be absorbed into the ground. The purpose of a rain garden is to improve water quality. Rain gardens can cut down the amount of pollution reaching creeks and streams by up to 30%. For more information call (219) 983-9715.
