The Gettysburg Campaign Program at Thomas Library
The American Civil War. Those words conjure images in each person who hears them. he years between 1861 and 1865 saw brother against brother, father against son in a war that literally tore the young nation apart. The events of the Civil War continue to fascinate even as the years pass by. Westchester Public Library will present a repeat of The Gettysburg Campaign for adults interested in learning more about the Civil War. The program will take place at Thomas Library, 200 W. Indiana Ave., Chesterton, in the Bertha Wood meeting room. No registration is necessary. Thomas Murphy will once again present insights into the battle, and events leading up to it. He will use an animated presentation to focus on those parts of the battle that involved Indiana regiments. Murphy is an RSVP volunteer and has presented many programs at the library. A PowerPoint presentation will show parts of the battlefield, with suggestions of places to visit when at Gettysburg. There will be a question and answer time, and handouts will be provided.
