Ash Wednesday services

Event occured on Wed, Feb 13 2013, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CST
Repeats every week on Wednesday until Wednesday, March 20, 2013

Lebanon Lutheran Church will hold Ash Wednesday worship with two services, noon and 7 p.m. on Feb. 13 at both 12 noon and 7 p.m.  The imposition of ashes will be offered at both services.  Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian Lenten season, which consists of 40 days of preparation for Holy Week and Easter.  The 40 days do not include the Sundays and are usually a time for Christians to practice three spiritual disciplines:  prayer, almsgiving and fasting.  This year the Lenten theme at Lebanon is “Hungry For God.”  Special midweek gatherings during the five weeks of Lent at 12 noon and 7 p.m. will explore patterns of prayer.  These sessions will be led by Rev. Joan Beck, Pastor to the Community and Director of Spiritual Formation at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC).
