May 1 through Oct. 31, the trains will be chugging along again for the fifth season in the Paul Busse-designed Railway Garden. G-scale trains on four tracks at different levels from ground level to overhead run across trestles and bridges and past waterfall and pond. Your favorite local landmarks are back for the season as well including Notre Dame's Golden Dome, Buchanan's Pears Mill, the St. Joseph Lighthouse, the Niles Depot, and Niles Chapin Mansion. The garden is a fine blend of garden design, art, and history—all key elements of Fernwood. Railway garden open during Fernwood hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Closed Monday. Fernwood admission required.
