Happy engagement!

Dr. E. John and Paula C. Eldridge, of Kenosha, Wis., would like to announce the engagement of their daughter Kathleen Anne to Mr. Timothy J. Dykstra, of Crown Point. The groom is the son of Robert and Judith Dykstra of Oak Lawn, Ill. Eldridge, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin — Parkside, received her master of science degree in career and technical education from the University of Wisconsin — Stout. She is employed by the Kenosha Unified School District as a fourth grade teacher in Kenosha. Dykstra, a graduate of Saint Louis University, received his master of science degree in nurse anesthesia from Webster University in St. Louis. He is employed by Anesthesia Consultants of Indiana, LLC as a certified registered nurse anesthetist at Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Crown Point. Dykstra proposed on Oct. 11 while running in the 2015 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Eldridge was cheering from the sidelines at mile 11 when Dykstra approached. To her surprise, he was carrying a bouquet of red roses. He ran to her and took her hand. As he bent down on one knee and proposed, the crowd and passing runners cheered. Upon Eldridge’s acceptance, he put a sparkling diamond ring on her finger. He tore off a sign on his shirt, revealing the phrase, “She Said Yes,” and he went on to finish the marathon. They plan to wed in June 2016 and will reside in Crown Point.
