Britt Botterman | Sr. | MF
Illiana Christian
Stats: 11 goals, 4 assists
Scouting report: Botterman's numbers may not be eye-popping, but his play on the field was more than spectacular at times. Most of Botterman's 11 goals came unassisted, and the lack of more pieces on the outside of the Vikings' offense hindered the senior's chances at putting up substantial offensive numbers. The Vikings standout was an area of concentration for all Illiana Christian opponents and Botterman was an all-conference selection in the Metro Suburban Conference.
Justin Clayton | So. | D
Illinois Lutheran
Stats: 12 goals, 8 assists
Scouting report: Clayton may only be a sophomore, but he is already playing like a senior. Scoring 12 goals from a defensive position is remarkable, and Clayton was an all-conference player in the River Valley and an all-tourney player in the conference challenge in August. He has other players and coaches turning their heads and may become a legitimate Division I prospect by the end of his prep career.
Phil Huang | So. | K
Homewood-Flossmoor
Stats: 13 shutouts, .625 goals per game average
Scouting report: Simply put, Huang is a soccer stud in the making. The sophomore keeper allowed just 15 goals in 24 games and is already considered to be one of the top goalies in Illinois. Huang was the anchor to a Vikings team that finished 15-6-3. He will no doubt begin to see the Division I schools come calling at the start of his junior season.
Fabian Leon | Sr. | MF-F
Thornton Fractional
Stats: 21 goals, 10 assists
Scouting report: Leon led the T.F. United in his senior season, but what could have been a more than exemplary season was hindered by team chemistry and leadership issues. Still, Leon was able to lead the United in scoring and posed problems for all opponents. His natural speed and talent is beyond dispute, thought the senior at times showed difficulty being the true team leader of a struggling team.
Misael Martinez | Jr. | F
Washington
Stats: 32 goals, 8 assists
Scouting report: Martinez was considered by many to be one of the top players in the Chicago Public League in only his junior season. With Washington scoring 76 goals all season, Martinez's 32 goals were a major portion of the Patriots' offense. Washington posted a 17-1-2 regular-season record with the only loss coming to Kelly in the Public League Championship. Martinez scored two goals against Illiana Christian in the 3A Rich East Regional championship and proved that he is a prime time player when it comes to the big game.
Raymundo Munoz | Jr. | D
Bloom Twp.
Scouting report: The Blazing Trojans junior sweeper was a force in the back middle for Bloom and a big reason the Trojans were able to hand Crete-Monee both of the Warriors' conference losses in the Southland. Munoz is the perfect complement to sophomore midfielder Jorge Garcia, and the two will look to lead to bigger goals for Bloom soccer in 2011.
Carlos Posada | Jr. | F
Crete-Monee
Stats: 63 goals, 19 assists
Scouting report: The Times Player of the Year simply dominated in scoring for the Warriors this season, and his 63 goals put him atop the list of Crete-Monee all-time scoring leaders. Posada also now holds the single-season scoring record for the Warriors and is 50 goals shy of the all-time Illinois state record of 159 goals set by Brother Rice's Billy Savarino from 1990-1993. Posada's 19 assists showcase his ability to make others around him better. Posada will look to lead the Warriors his senior season then take his game to the Division 1 level.
Matt Sadowski | Jr. | D
Crete-Monee
Scouting report: Sadowski is one of the reasons why the Warriors only gave up 24 goals the entire season. He was a force on defense and helped lead Crete-Monee to a 17-4 overall record and a 13-2 record in the Southland Athletic Conference. The Illinois Lutheran transfer will return along with Posada and brother Ryan Sadowski to lead a senior-heavy Crete-Monee team in 2011.
Mark Spencer | Sr. | D
Homewood-Flossmoor
Stats: 9 goals
Scouting report: Spencer scored nine goals from the sweeper position and could have had many more if the Vikings could have afforded to move him up into the midfield. Spencer played an important part in the Vikings' 13 shutout wins and the team's 15 goals allowed in the regular season. He was a four-year starter for Homewood-Flossmoor and an all-sectional player for two years in a row.
J.T. Toensing | Sr. | MF
Beecher
Stats: 9 goals, 11 assists
Scouting report: Like Botterman, Toensing's stats may not be spectacular, but his play on the pitch went beyond numbers to the measurable aspects of the game. Toensing's all-around play gained him Player of the Year honors in the River Valley Conference. He was also the vocal and physical leader on a Beecher team that was in transition and in need of solid upperclassman leadership.
Jimmy Vandermark | Sr. | F
Beecher
Stats: 20 goals, 4 assists
Scouting report: Vandermark moved from the defense this season to help Beecher where the Bobcats needed it most: On offense. He made an immediate impact at a position he was less than familiar with and proved to be the ultimate team player on a team that needed him to play out of his natural position.
