Angelique Patterson had a double-double as Washington beat Collins 41-37 in overtime in girls basketball action on Tuesday in the season opener for both schools.
Patterson had 16 points and 13 rebounds. Julyssa Saez had 14 points, while Victoria Bradley just missed a double-double nine points and nine points helping to mark new coach Sara Kalemba's first win.
"There were some jittery moments, but we came through," Kalemba said. "We definitely can get better and we have time to work on some things."
Homewood-Flossmoor 65, Downers Grove North 48: Jailyn Norris had 24 points and five steals to lead the Vikings to a season-opening win.
Charnelle Reed has 20 points, eight assists and seven rebounds.
Thornwood 48, Bremen 23: Dorothy Taylor's 12 points and 14 rebounds led the Thunderbirds to a season-opening win.
St. Francis deSales 50, Chicago University 23: Tyler Brown's 12 points led the Pioneers (2-0) past the Maroons.
Brianta McMorris added 10 points.
Boys Bowling
T.F. North 1,829, Eisenhower 1,713: Darrell Eaton rolled a 460 and Carlton Galloway a 384 to lead the Meteors past the Cardinals in a South Suburban crossover match at Castaways Bowl.
Paul Bomba had a 370 as North improved to 2-0.
Football
Semifinal tickets on sale: Tickets for Saturday's Class 8A semifinal between Homewood-Flossmoor and Mt. Carmel are on sale at both schools.
The game will be played at noon at Gately Stadium and all tickets are $6.
At Homewood-Flossmoor, tickets are available at the campus store; at Mt. Carmel, they are on sale at the security office.
