A singles player and a doubles team from Homewood-Flossmoor won all their matches Thursday at the IHSA state meet in the northwest suburbs.
Adesuwa Osabuohien beat Warren's Michelle Dutt 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 in her opening match.
She then beat Normal West's Amanda Studnicki and Glenbrook South's Caroline Ryba in straight sets. Osabuohien will play Wheaton-Warrenville South's Keisha Clousing in a fourth-round match at Hersey.
The Vikings' doubles team of Faith Huckabee and Dana Shannon won all three of their matches in straight sets.
They will play Lake Forest's Haleigh McPeek and Elizabeth Zordani today at Hersey.
H-F's Danielle Dixon won her first match but lost the next two and was eliminated from the tourney. The same happened with the doubles teams of Colleen Kenney and Allison Lessner.
Marian Catholic's Gaby Rosales won her first two matches before losing 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to Buffalo Grove's Nell Boyd.
Rosales beat Metamora's Taylor Koehrson and Crysal Lake Central's Jenna Wallace in straight sets. She will play Metea Valley's Kelsey Chin in a fourth-round consolation match today at Palatine High School.
Illiana Christian's three entries also lost twice and are out of the tournament.
In singles, Zhavia Gray lost her first match but beat Ottawa's Lexi Poulakos 6-0, 6-2 in the consolation bracket. Gray then fell in straight sets to Champaign Centennial's Allison Hansen.
The doubles teams of Lindsey Kotynski and Paige Van Wolde, and Rachel Blaauw and Anneke Knot also were eliminated.
Blaauw and Knot lost their first match, won the second, then dropped the third.
Crete-Monee's Dana Drew lost both of her matches.
Girls swimming
Thornton Fractional 55, Bremen 39: Thornton Fractional won all three relays and five individual events to defeat the Braves at T.F. South.
Jessica Maricich won the 200-yard freestyle (2:21.05), Annie Zupan the 200 individual medley (2:34.83), Ninah Bertrand the 100 freestyle (1:05.65), Julia Bertrand the 100 backstroke (1:14.23) and Destinee Ganious the 100 breaststroke (1:19.51).
Zupan, Ganious, Maricich and Ninah Bertrand teamed to win the 200 medley relay (2:13.70). The team of Ganious, Emily Lourwood, Ninah Bertrand and Julia Bertrand won the 200 freestyle relay (2:05.06), and Zupan, Maricich, Julia Betrand and Ninah Bertrand won the 400 freestyle relay (4:40.63).
Homewood-Flossmoor 106, Joliet Twp. 60: The Vikings won all but one event, and Sophie Schloen won three individual events.
Schloen won the 200 IM (2:39.81), 500 free (6:01.57) and 100 back (1:13.25).
The 200 medley relay team of Anna Tenny, Morgan White, Claire Duncan and Rebecca Mathews, and the 200 free relay team of Jamila Jenkins, Tenny, Hannah Ongman and Mathews were also winners.
16-inch softball
Von Stueben 12, Washington 11: Freshman Augustine Guerrero was a home run short of the cycle as he had two singles, a double, a triple and seven RBIs, but the Minutemen (13-1) fell in the Public League playoffs.
Ryan Woods had two homers, but Washington committed seven errors.
Football
H-F to be featured on parings show: Homewood-Flossmoor will be one of the teams shown on Saturday's IHSA pairings show. The program starts at 8 p.m. on IHSA.TV and Comcast (CN 101).
A web cam will allow the program to go live to the school, much like the NCAA does with its basketball pairings show.
