East Chicago addressing long-standing challenges

Former East Chicago Mayor George Pabey, left, former President of Redevelopment Gus Flores, center, and Director of Redevelopment John Artis joined officials at the corners of Main Steet and Broadway Street to kick off the Shores on Broadway project to revitalize the North Harbor in 2008. The empowerment zone provided about $750,000 to provide drainage and street renovation to the project, which built new townhomes in the area.
