FOOTLOOSE | Portage

Portage Community Theatre will stage its summer musical, "Footloose," at 7:30 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Sunday at Portage High School West, 6400 E. U.S. 6. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available in advance or by calling Portage Community Theatre.

The Lan-Oak Park Foundation will host Cruise Night on Ridge Road from 6 to 9 tonight. There's no entry fee. Food will be sold.

PIEROGI FEST | Whiting

Pierogi Fest 2008 offers live polka music, ethnic foods, Czechoslovakian and Polish costumes, arts, crafts and dancing - centered on the eastern European dumpling - Friday through Sunday in downtown Whiting. Presiding over festivities is Mr. Pierogi and his singing, dancing Pieroguettes who will entertain with medleys of songs dedicated to the pierogi. International dancers perform Saturday and Sunday, and pierogi eating and tossing contests are planned. Admission is free. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Information is available from the Whiting-Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce.

PORTER COUNTY FAIR | Valparaiso

10 a.m. gates open and carnival rides open at 2 p.m. today and Sunday at the Porter County Expo Center, 215 E. Division Road. Admission is $5 per person ages 16 and older; $2 children ages 10 to 15 and children under 10 free, $4 for seniors. The Porter County Fair includes animal exhibits, craft exhibits, great free entertainment and a wide variety of grandstand entertainment for all ages.

DANCE UNDER STARS | Munster

Munster Parks and Recreation Department presents Dancing Under the Stars from 7:30 to 9 tonight at Centennial Park on Calumet Avenue. The Alan Gresik Swing Shift Orchestra performs music of the roaring 1930s and '40s Representatives from Fred Astaire dance studio will dance a choreographed number then give lessons to anyone interested from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event is open to people of all ages.

POLKA PICNIC | Glenwood

A polka picnic begins at noon Sunday at PACF Farm and Grove, 18600 Glenwood-Thornton Road. Music will be from 2 to 6 p.m. and other activities include free paddle boat rides, bingo, a fishing derby and door prizes. Bring your own lawn chair. Food and beverages will be available and no coolers or alcohol are allowed. Tickets will cost $10 at the gate or $7 in advance. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

PIPPIN | Hammond

8 tonight and 3 p.m. Sunday, directed by Ed Griffith, musical direction by Michael Barr and choreography by Julianne Slater. This Tony-winning classic musical-comedy features delightful characters and a memorable score. Performed by the Genesius Guild at the First United Methodist Church, 6635 Hohman Ave. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students.
