OPEN HOUSE | Gary
Join The National Park Service and community partners as they kick-off summer plans and programs at the Summer Revival Open House from 1 to 4 p.m. June 27 at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore's Paul H. Douglas Center for Environmental Education on north Lake Street in the Miller section of Gary. This open house will highlight opportunities for families and visitors to enjoy the resources available at the Douglas Center and Miller Woods throughout the summer. National Park Service staff will be on hand to answer questions and lead hikes. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Indiana Dunes.

SLOVAK DAY | Merrillville
Gary Diocesan Midwest Slovak Cultural Society sponsors its annual Slovak Day celebration June 28 at Salvatorian Shrine, 5755 Pennsylvania St. The day will begin with Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Shrine. The Rev. Joseph Semancik will be the main celebrant, joined by Slovak priests of the Gary Diocese and visiting clergy. Ethnic and other foods will be available for purchase after mass, with entertainment by the Tatra Slovak Dancers from Milwaukee at 1 p.m. and exhibits, games, raffles, bake sale and music by Gene Mikrut Orchestra from 2 to 5 p.m.

BENEFIT DINNER | Portage
Faith Mission Church will hold a benefit mostaccioli dinner beginning at 11 a.m. June 27 at 5093 Stone Ave. There will be gospel music karaoke and games for all ages. Donation is $10 for adults and $5 for ages 6 to 10; kids 5 and younger are free with a paid adult. Tickets are available.
