Highland's Promise You Art House to host exhibit

The Promise You Art House in Highland will host its first exhibit.

Highland's new Promise You Art House gallery will host its first solo exhibit, showcasing the work of artist Randy Buvala from neighboring Munster.

The galley, at 8830 Kennedy Ave., will display Buvala's "700 Days of Art: Pieces of Projects," starting on Oct. 21. Buvala won the 2017 Anne E. & Stephen L. Brtko Memorial Award for his entry into the South Shore Arts 74th annual Salon Show at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster.

"Each of these projects influences one another," he said. "Many times they lend themselves to a specific medium or a combination of media."

It's the first artist-curated exhibit at the gallery, which opened last month. Owner David Lubarski said Promise You Art House would generally try to set aside one of its three exhibition rooms with solo or group shows.

The gallery is located in a 107-year-old home just south of downtown. It displays about 200 pieces of art from about 20 local artists, and sells artwork for as little as $3.

Promise You Art House is open from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and by appointment.
