Audiences will enjoy a variety of works when Ballet West brings its show to The Auditorium Theatre this weekend.
The troupe will perform the Chicago premiere of "Sleeping Beauty" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday while they offer eclectic works in the Mixed Rep program at 3 p.m. Sunday. During Sunday's show, a performance of "The Lottery," based on Shirley Jackson's short story, will be featured.
Ballet West, is under the artistic direction of Adam Sklute, a former Joffrey Ballet dancer, ballet master and associate director. Sklute is delivering a new staging of "The Sleeping Beauty" with this engagement.
The company, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, stars in the CW's "Breaking Pointe" series.
In addition to their regular dance performances, the company will perform "The Lottery" at the Auditorium's annual gala "An Evening of Fortune and Chance" on Sunday.
