If you're looking for entertainment this weekend, head to The Joffrey Academy of Dance's show "Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Award."
The show, which previously was to be performed at the Harris Theater, will now be presented at Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, Chicago, at 7 p.m. March 1. (The production was moved due to the recent electrical fire at the Harris Theater).
"This is a wonderful platform for young (and innovative) choreographers," said Ashley Wheater, artistic director of The Joffrey Ballet. Wheater added the program also gives Joffrey Academy Trainee Program dancers "a chance to step forward."
On the program, will be the works of choreographers Stephanie Batten Bland, Justin Allen, Norbert De La Cruz III as well as Academy co-artistic director Alexei Kremnev. The "Choreographers of Color" production has been presented by The Joffrey for the past four years.
FYI: "Winning Works: Choreographers of Color Award" will be performed at 7 p.m. March 1 at Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place, 175 E. Chestnut St., Chicago. Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 at the door. Visit winning works.eventbrite.com.
