Broadway in Chicago introduced the cast and creative team of the new production "Pretty Woman: The Musical" during a press conference Monday at The Oriental Theatre in Chicago.

"Pretty Woman: The Musical" will begin performances in Chicago on March 13. It's scheduled for a five-week run. Artists in town Monday were the show's director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell; stars Samantha Barks and Steve Kazee; producer Paula Wagner; screenwriter J.F. Lawton; Kathleen Marshall, daughter of co-book writer Garry Marshall; and performers Eric Anderson; Jason Danieley; Kingsley Leggs; and Orfeh.

The production is based on the Cinderella story "with a twist" featured in the hit film "Pretty Woman." The show stars an original soundtrack by songwriter/musician Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

"I'm happy to be here and happy to be back in Chicago," said Jerry Mitchell. Mitchell has premiered various other shows to Chicago audiences through the years, including "Kinky Boots" and "On Your Feet."

"I fell in love with the movie 28 or 29 years ago when I was starring in 'The Will Rogers Follies,'" he said, adding that at the time he thought the movie would make a fantastic musical.

FYI: "Pretty Woman: The Musical" begins March 13 at The Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., Chicago. For tickets, call 800-775-2000 or visit
