There'll be romance in the air when Canada's royal Winnipeg Ballet performs the Chicago premiere of "Moulin Rouge - The Ballet" this weekend at The Auditorium Theatre.
Choreographed by Jorden Morris, the production revolves around the popular Parisian cabaret and relays a story of romance, love and loss. The ballet will be performed Friday through Sunday.
It's appropriate that the production will be performed at The Auditorium Theatre, which dates to 1889 as the famed Moulin Rouge also opened in 1889.
The ballet, which had its premiere in 2009, features colorful costumes by Anne Armit and Shannon Lovelace with make-up design by Melissa Gibson.
Audiences may also purchase tickets for the gala "An Evening in Montmarte presented on Sunday. The gala begins after the 2 p.m. "Moulin Rouge" performance where guests will gather at the Palmer House Hilton. For tickets to the gala, call (312) 341-2364.
