The Museum of Broadcast Communications will present the 89th anniversary of the WLS National Barn Dance at 3 p.m. March 23.
During the event, guests will enjoy an afternoon of country music, reflections and documentary clips from "The Hayloft Gang: The Story of the National Barn Dance." The anniversary celebration will be hosted by filmmaker Stephen Parry and will benefit The National Radio Hall of Fame, which is in the museum.
The Barn Dance was a popular radio show, a precursor to the Grand Ole Opry and was broadcast from Chicago. It premiered in 1924 on WLS Radio. Guests of the anniversary celebration will receive a limited edition poster commemorating the event.
The event will be held at 1230 W. Washington Boulevard, Chicago, the site of the historic WLS radio station which broadcast the show. Among speakers will be Scott Childers, James F.
