Nazareth Home, a licensed foster care home in East Chicago, hosted its 2007 Gala Chef Tasting and Live and Silent Auction recently in the atrium of the Hammond Federal Courthouse, 5400 Federal Plaza.
Hundred gathered to nosh on hors d'oeuvres and desserts prepared by some of the finest area restaurants and caterers, including chef Nico Luna from Villa De Bruno; Jack Mix of Comfort Catering and Terry Zych, hospitality program chair of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana in Michigan City; chef John Urb, Radisson Star Plaza Hotel; Glennard Brooks, executive chef, Genesis Convention Center; Larry Pruitt, head chef of L & L Caterers; and Keith Brooks of Special Occasion Catering.
Local celebrity auctioneer Tom O'Donnell did a great job in calling the live auction.

It's that time already
No sooner had the glitter been cleaned up from the big 60th anniversary gala than an invitation arrived to save the date for the First Look for Charity to benefit Campagna Academy in Schererville.
The date is Feb. 7 and as always the black tie-required evening begins with a pre-event reception hosted by Horseshoe Casino Hammond starting at 4:30 p.m. before heading by coach to McCormick Place in Chicago to see the newest and hottest wheels at the Chicago Auto Show before it opens to the public.

Daniel Lambrecht, president of Lambrecht's Liquors in St. Joseph, Mich., is hosting a wine and food event to benefit Lakeland Foundation from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Berrien Hills Golf Club, 690 W. Napier Ave. (at Miami Drive) in St. Joseph.
Around the World of Wine, a pre-holiday tasting tour, invites the public to come and taste more than 100 fine wines that will be specially priced for orders taken and fulfilled by Lambrecht's. There also will be an array of special foods prepared by Classic Catering highlighting Reny Picot cheeses from Benton Harbor.
Tickets cost $25 in advance and $30 at the door and include the open sampling. They are available by phone and at Lambrecht's Liquors, 2926 Niles Ave. (just north of Hilltop), Berrien Hills Golf Club and at Perennial Accents, 220 S. State St.
