Here's a great incentive for losing weight: a chance to avoid more snow and cold this week in exchange for a trip to sunny California.
Jane Malone, a dedicated member of Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness, flew out to California this week for the season finale of NBC's "The Biggest Loser," airing 8 p.m. tonight.
Of course, she's had a perfect role model and motivator to help her along the way on the path of weight loss.
It was in February 2011 when the Region and the world watched Valparaiso residents Marci and Courtney Crozier shed pounds for big money and better health on "The Biggest Loser." The mother and daughter duo remain favorite success stories for the reality show. Courtney started at 323 pounds and lost 92 pounds during her 14 weeks on the series. Mom Marci started the show at 238 pounds and ended 162, and is a regional director of marketing and sales for Franciscan Omni Health and Fitness in Schererville.
Amy L. Baxter, program and retention specialist at Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness, told me Marci is also in L.A. to be featured on tonight's finale show for Season 15 of the series.
"There is a small chance that Jane will also be on the show and could plug Omni and our Thin & Healthy program," Baxter told me.
"Marci's thought is that after the show, Jane could be available to openly discuss the how, what and why of being chosen to participate in the filming and the journey. At Franciscan Omni, Thin & Healthy's TOTAL SOLUTION (THTS) program may be 'your last stop for weight loss,' but for Omni member Jane Malone, it may be her first step to her 15 minutes of fame."
I'm told Jane, 49, a Chesterton resident, recently wrote about her weight loss success story to the producers of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" after Marci received an invitation in November asking all past contestants to forward any inspirational stories to the show. After Jane submitted the testimonial outlining her weight loss of 153 pounds and 17.3 percent body fat, she was contacted by the show and selected to be one of the lucky finalists flown out to appear on tonight's finale.
I'm told the details of their plans "are a mystery in true 'Biggest Loser' tradition."
Jane reached her goal weight in October 2012 and has kept it off in the 15 months since. I'm told her life-changing decision to sign up with Omni Health & Fitness' Thin & Healthy's TOTAL SOLUTION Program came while watching Marci and Courtney Crozier on "The Biggest Loser" Season 11.
I'm told to date, Omni Health & Fitness' Thin & Healthy's TOTAL SOLUTION Program has helped members lose 15,036 total pounds since its inception in 2011, with "weight Loss, movement and motivation" being the key to lifelong weight management. FYI: (219) 865-6969 or franciscanalliance.org/omni
