The $500 million Horseshoe Casino is unveiling their first-ever craft beer bar called Sixth Street, offering a casual setting to enjoy a local brew or gather for game-day viewing on HD flat-screen televisions providing convenient views from around the bar.

Sixth Street is set to serve award winning local favorites and world famous brews with more than 24 selections on tap, and another 16 in bottles and is located just around the corner from the historic Horseshoe Poker Room, and playfully named after the Fifth Street card in Texas Hold'em.

The space will officially "toast" the opening with a special press event next week on Thursday, Nov. 29.

I'm told the craft beer bar's beverage menu features a year-round curated collection of imported brews which will be on rotating taps for different seasonal offerings. Sixth Street will also reveal unique feature beers each month the first being the 2009 Vintage Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine. Reserved for three years for a special occasion, this award-winning barley wine boasts a dense, fruity bouquet, an intense flavor palate and a deep reddish-brown color.

"We are excited to introduce Sixth Street at Horseshoe Casino to our loyal customers and new Chicagoland faces," said Jennifer Galle, vice president of marketing, Horseshoe Casino.

"Sixth Street will be the perfect place for craft beer discovery and exploration, as we are proud to feature a competitive mix of up-and-coming and established brewers from the neighboring Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana areas and beyond. This is an environment that lends itself to patrons in pursuit of leisurely sports watching or celebratory toasting."

Patrons will be able to choose from an abundant selection of craft beers as Sixth Street will offer a wide array of locally made infusions on draft from in Illinois and Indiana, such as:

Three Floyd's - Alpha King (Indiana), Three Floyd's flagship beer, a big American pale ale that pours a deep amber with a creamy head;

Four Horseman – Pale Ale (Indiana) a pale ale that is rich and full in character with earthy hop tones and a crisp finish;

Three Floyd's-Robert the Bruce Scottish Ale (Indiana) - A bold Scottish ale;

Goose Island-Matilda Belgian Ale (Illinois) - Wild in character, with a slightly fruity aroma and a spicy yeast flavor; and

Two Brothers – Cane and Ebel (Illinois) dry, but with a creamy touch of Thai palm sugar and the spicy tang of rye.

Goose Island-312 Urban Wheat Ale (Illinois), a spicy aroma of Cascade hops is followed by a crisp, fruity ale flavor;

Sixth Street craft beer bar will alternate innovative selections of bar top snacks such as gourmet house cured Applewood Smoked Bacon, which will be uniquely served out of beer bottles for a touch of whimsy. I'm told live entertainment such as local bands will also be highlighted several times each month.

Horseshoe Casino, a Caesars Entertainment Corporation property, markets itself as being located "just 20 minutes from downtown Chicago" and having more than 350,000 square feet with over 3,000 slot machines, over 100 table games and one of the largest poker rooms in the Midwest.
