The most popular game-day activity is unquestionably tailgating. Outside the stadium and inside the parking lot, countless fans can be seen grilling burgers, playing bags and gearing up for the impending game.
While attending the game typically follows tailgating, the game is not always necessary.
Michelle Harrod and a group of her co-workers tailgated for the Bears Saints game on Oct. 6 without ever setting foot in Soldier Field. She said the group pitched in to purchase a parking pass off craigslist and met some Bears fans who invited the group to join them.
"Seats are so small inside the stadium, everything is so expensive," Herrod said.
"Here you've got a few spots to sit on. You can watch the game on rabbit ears."
She said among some of the other perks sitting outside the stadium was the anticipation between the delay of fan noise coming from inside Solider Field and when the TV broadcast showed the play.
