Craft beer festivals are typically a spring-summer-fall affair, but just because it's cold out doesn't mean you can't join a big party celebrating all things craft beer.

Patrician Banquets in Schererville and Finnegan’s Pub in Dyer will host the inaugural Febrewary Beerfest at 1 p.m. Feb. 20. The indoor craft beer festival will be take place at Patrician Banquets at 410 U.S. 30 in Schererville and feature 29 craft breweries, including local ones like New Oberpfalz, The Devil's Trumpet and One Trick Pony.

"I wanted to piece together a glorified beer tasting," said organizer Patti Porter said, who owns Finnegans Pub in Dyer. "This is an environment for the curious drinker. Each of the 27 breweries will provide a representative to educate and answer any questions about the beers. I wanted to bring the opportunity for guests to not only taste what's brewing locally, but also learn about it."

The band Greg Ashby and friends will perform live music at the beer festival, and food will be available for purchases. The roster of regional and national breweries includes Rogue, Oskar Blues Brewery, New Holland Brewing, Falls City Beer, Abita, Tyranena, Daredevil Brewing and Unibroue.

Most vendors will pour two 3-ounce samples, and there will be more than 50 different sampling possibilities.

Tickets can be purchased for $35 at Patrician Banquets, Finnegans Pub or brownpapertickets.com. The event costs $45 at the door. Designated drivers can attend for $10, and they get unlimited pop.
