The starship Enterprise will land at a Harrah's casino near you, thanks to an agreement the gaming company giant inked in December with slot-machine developer and manufacturer WMS Gaming.

The Star Trek slots, coming to Horseshoe Casino Hammond and Harrah's Joliet Casino & Hotel are the rollout product in Adaptive Gaming, a WMS exclusive that allows players to save their progress and pick up where they left off on their next casino visit.

"The early reception to Star Trek clearly demonstrates that players have an affinity for personalization and recognition at the game level," said Rob Bone, vice president of marketing for WMS.

The company launched Star Trek with three episodes of the show incorporated into the play components. It will continue to develop new episodes and research ways to expand and leverage Adaptive Gaming to other licensed and WMS-specific brands.

The dynamic combines conventional video gaming with gambling.

Through the server-enabled networked gaming platform capabilities of Adaptive Gaming, players can resume play on another machine at another casino, even in another state, by entering a PIN.

A ticket with a code is printed, which then can be inserted in another unit for the next playing session.

Star Trek's episodic story line is the perfect theme for the technology. During different bonus rounds, players earn medals that enable them to unlock future episodes.

The games feature WMS Gaming's patented Sensory Immersion experience, a blend of real-time 3D graphics and the Bose 3Space audio system.

The power of customizing Star Trek with Total Rewards, the system-wide Harrah's player's club program, will enhance the appeal of the game according to Tim Stanley, chief information officer and senior vice president, innovation, gaming and technology of Harrah's Entertainment.
