Asian specialties star at Foo Noodle Bar at Hammond's Horseshoe Casino.

For visitors who are only familiar with the casino's lavish Village Square Buffet, the fine dining eatery Jack Binion's Steak House or Benny's Pub & Eatery, where burgers and shakes have a starring role, it may be time to explore another culinary option at the entertainment mecca.

Diners who are fond of Asian cuisine will find authentic dishes on the menu at Foo Noodle Bar. Various Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and other Asian recipes, which are reasonably priced, are featured at the casual eatery.

Foo Noodle Bar is tucked into a corner of Horseshoe Casino, not too far from the high limits area, so it may be a little tricky to find if you're not familiar with the cavernous casino.

Once you enter the restaurant, though, the aromas of Asian spices and ingredients easily stir up one's appetite.

Foo Noodle Bar is not a huge restaurant and has a little more than a dozen seats around the open kitchen area in the center of the room and tables along one side of the eatery.

During our visit there, guests seemed to eat their hearty offerings pretty quickly and then vacate tables in less than a half hour. The food is delivered to diners in a timely fashion here as well, perhaps with the idea of getting one more quickly back onto the casino floor.

We were seated at the bar in the room's center which proved to be a comfortable seat with a view of the whole restaurant.

After reading the menu, which features an explanation of dishes in English and Chinese, we decided on a few items.

We began with the Beef Stew Noodle Soup, ($12) and also ordered the Grilled Lemon Grass Beef with Rice Vermicelli ($12) and Cashew Chicken ($12).

Foo Noodle Bar's Beef Stew Noodle Soup proved a hefty offering which was just perfect for a cold day. The Grilled Lemon Grass Beef, served with lettuce, carrots, cucumbers and vermicelli on the side, was a flavorful dish with a delicate use of spices. The Cashew Chicken, served with rice, featured a hint of sweetness and proved satisfying.

Among other dishes at Foo Noodle Bar are Teriyaki Chicken Wings ($12); Salt and Pepper Pork Chop ( $12); Pot Stickers ($9); Turnip Cakes ( $9); Fillet of Fish Congee ( $12); Vietnamese Pho ($12); Roast Duck Noodle Soup ( $14) and Dumpling Noodle Soup, $12.
