“Gravity” was the year’s most likely Best Picture winner after it was released – until awards season kicked in and “12 Years a Slave” and “American Hustle” came along. Still, its win – in a tie – from the Producers Guild of America means it’s right there on the cusp of Best Picture. Where it may be hurt is that voters are likely to award it Best Director and cast their top vote for either “Slave” or “Hustle” – plus, it’ll do well in the technical awards. A Best Picture win for it would be an upset, but not a huge one.
