But then it cooled down and "Lincoln" started to steal the heat. When Ben Affleck wasn't nominated for Best Director, its hopes really went out the window – only three films have ever won Best Picture without having a director nominated. But then Affleck started winning at every other awards show – and so did "Argo." And here we are, a day away, and this amazing true story of getting our hostages out of Iran is about to take the Academy's biggest prize. Affleck was snubbed as director, but he'll get his second Oscar when he accepts (with George Clooney and Grant Heslov) as producer.
