The Original Screenplay category this year is a doosy. Jordan Peele just won the Writers Guild Award for "Get Out," which has to make him the frontrunner. But Greta Gerwig has been the presumed leader for a while for "Lady Bird." In 11 of the past 15 years, the WGA winner has repeated at the Oscars, but this is a true showdown between those two. In 10 of the past 15 years, the WGA's Adapted Screenplay winner has repeated at the Oscars, and that looks good for James Ivory for "Call Me by Your Name." Its only competition might be "Mudbound."
