Bret Michaels never refrains from giving his all in concert, whether he's rocking as the frontman of his band Poison or bopping on stage during his solo shows.
Region fans will have the opportunity to enjoy Michaels' solo hits and Poison favorites when the popular musician rolls his tour bus into Northwest Indiana on Saturday.
Michaels' Life Rocks Tour will hit the Stardust Event Center at Blue Chip Casino at 8 p.m. Saturday and he promises a festive time.
"The fans can expect the same energy and excitement they always get," Michaels said. "In the set, I've added a tribute to the music my band and I grew up on and a new version of 'Unskinny Bop' that has an extended beginning."
Michaels' solo tour has been crisscrossing the country throughout the year and he regularly performs in the Midwest, where he said he has a strong fan base.
"I love coming to the Midwest. The fans are amazing. It's always a big party and the energy is always great. Most artists come through an area once a year. I'm very fortunate that my fans let me come back several times. I'll do the Chicago area maybe four times throughout the year," he said. "I've been doing the solo thing for quite awhile now and the fans in the Midwest have really embraced it."
The rocker said a great number of fans attend his show "multiple times to show their support."
"It's really an honor and like I said, it's always a party with them."
Among other Midwest shows coming up for Michaels are Nov. 23 in Anderson, Ind. and Dec. 19 at Mojoes in Joliet.
Michaels said life on the road is never taxing or a chore for him.
"I've been touring 26 years and it's a way of life for me. I don't see it as something I really have to handle or that it gets grueling. It's my life and I love it," he said.
Michaels is currently starring on the series "Rock My RV" on The Travel Channel. The show features Michaels and his team of designers as they transform RV owners' beloved mobile homes into new spectacular creations. As an RV fan, Michaels said he's been enjoying the process of helping to create new vehicles.
"We filmed two seasons at once so you'll see some more episodes. The best part of the show was watching the RV owners see their vehicles turned into something they never dreamed of. They were so excited. It was awesome to see that," Michaels said.
And what's Michaels' dream RV?
"Every year I go on tour, I design a new bus so my dream RV changes and gets realized year after year. My inspiration comes from my or the people's needs. For instance, I need a gym in mine so every year we find a place to put a new exercise bike or something like that along with some portable gym gear on it," he said.
In addition to Michaels' music and other projects, his Pets Rock line, available through Petsmart, is still going strong and features new products for the upcoming holiday season.
"The Petsmart Pets Rock line has been great. Right now, we have a new 'Chance' doll which is a stuffed dog and when you buy it, portions of the money go to charity. Last year we did it and had record breaking sales. We're hoping to break those records with this year's version of 'Chance.'"
Michaels said upcoming projects include new music, Internet-based projects and more TV show ideas.
