As girl groups go, The Ronettes proved to be one of the most popular of the 1960s. And stepping into the spotlight as lead singer of the group was songstress Ronnie Spector.
Spector is scheduled to perform her revue "Beyond the Beehive" Friday at City Winery in Chicago. "Beyond the Beehive," traces Spector's personal life and history in the music world beginning with her start in New York City. The one-time wife of the troubled Phil Spector will offer a playlist of more than 15 songs including some of the Ronette's biggest hits such as "Be My Baby," and "Baby, I Love You."
