Straight No Chaser, the band that came to the public's attention via You Tube in 2006, will entertain fans with their smooth a cappella blend Saturday at the Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet.
Randy Stine, one of the founding members from Chicago, said he and the group are looking forward to bringing their show to the area.
"We haven't played the Rialto before," Stine said, adding he's heard much about the classic theater.
Straight No Chaser's tour this season is titled "#SNCLIVE Tour," which is inspired by their strong Internet, You Tube, social media presence.
While many of their concerts later in the season will be filled with Christmas content, Stine said this weekend's show will feature a diverse song list.
"There'll be a mix of things," Stine said. Everything from classics to contemporary tunes will get the Straight No Chaser touch.
The 10-member vocal group has many musical influences and each member has been inspired by different artists. They each bring something unique to the performance table.
"We have a wide variety of influences from the Beach Boys to the Beatles and Take 6," he said, adding they try to pick a diverse range of songs for every concert.
"With 10 different guys you get 10 different opinions. We try to pick stuff we think is easily likeable," he said, adding they often use their own parents as a gauge. If their parents like a tune, in general, the audience will enjoy it.
Stine hopes they attract music lovers of all types to the performance.
"I hope people will come to see us as a fan of the group or just having a deep appreciation of a cappella music," Stine said.
Straight No Chaser will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at Rialto Square Theatre, 102 N. Chicago St., Joliet. Tickets are $29.50 to $49.50. FYI: (815) 726-6600 or visit Ticketmaster.com or Rialtosquare.com
