The dynamic brass sounds of Tower of Power swept through the Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Mich. on May 10.
Tower of Power, celebrating its 45th anniversary this year, has truly been a powerhouse band whose concerts through the decades showcase a high-energy, solid unit of sound that never wavers.
Led by founder, vocalist and tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo, the band proved, in the Four Winds concert, they've still got the talent and desire to infuse their shows with soul and passion.
Starring on the roster was a mix of revved up brass favorites, a few ballads, and even a tip of the hat to the Godfather of Soul with the group's soulful "Diggin' on James Brown."
Among highlighted concert numbers were "I Got to Groove," You've Got to Funkifize," 'Time Will Tell," the ballads "So Very Hard to Go," and "You're Still a Young Man," and crowd favorite "What Is Hip?"
Throughout the night of engaging music, audience members were up and out of their seats for the majority of the time.
Founder Castillo told the crowd to be on the lookout for their upcoming appearances on Cheech and Chong's newest "Up in Smoke" tour, where they'll also perform with War.
