Canine fans won't want to miss the engaging display of talent and cuteness in the spotlight at Chicago's McCormick Place on Saturday and Sunday.

The International Kennel Club of Chicago (IKC) presents its 2013 International Cluster of Dog Shows this weekend. Canines will compete in a variety of contests, including "Best in Show."

The competition is open to dogs from the United States and Canada who will test their skills in rally, obedience, conformation and more categories. Attendees can watch the various competitions, talk with owners and get close-up views of their favorite canines.

Drawing a family-friendly audience, the show will also feature a special kid zone with arts and crafts, face painting, information on picking the perfect pet, ask-the-vet sessions and other activities.

Show guests interested in seeing breeds from Pomeranians to Poodles will delight in visiting the show which annually draws more than 85,000 people. The show is considered one of the largest all breed benched shows in the United States.

On display and engaging in competition will be more than 10,000 purebred canines from 160 breeds.

Among special attractions will be junior dog judging which is open to kids 9 to 19 years of age. And don't miss the "Puppy Spectacular," starring puppies ages 6 months to 12 months who'll compete for the "Best Puppy in Show."

Guests interested in taking a break from watching competitions can peruse a variety of products in the show's vendor area. Everything from treats and jewelry to carrying cases, apparel and more will be in the spotlight.

Cost for the show is $20 for adults for one day or $25 for a two-day pass. Tickets are free for children under 12 with the purchase of an adult ticket. Hours are 8 a.m to 4 p.m. both days. FYI: ikcdogshow.com.
