Provided by Franciscan Alliance Franciscan Alliance representatives were among hundreds of participants who turned out to support the war against cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of Americans, during an annual American Heart Association Heart Walk at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point recently. They are shown just prior to a balloon release to celebrate the event. The association’s impact goal for 2020 is to improve the cardiovascular health of Americans by 20 percent, while reducing deaths from cardiovascular diseases and stroke by the same amount. More than 1 million participants in some 300 communities nationally are expected to raise millions of dollars through Heart Walks this year.
